In the 80s the first private initiative has been taken by Mr. Faiz Ahmed, who established a Shilpagan Gallery apart from the lone national one. Till to date Shilpangan Gallery is struggling for its existence though there were many more spawned during last two decades but few of them are surviving. The largest of all were the Bengal initiatives in Dhanmondi and Gulshan which are not in operation.
